Mark Lewis was my professor while I was going through a very hard time. At the start of every class, he warmly shook my hand, looked me straight in eye. smiled and introduced himself...and I knew he understood exactly how I felt. On our last day the term, everybody in our small summer class presented for our final exams. At the close of each one, students expressed how incredibly grateful they felt to have met such a wonderful, loving, caring, INSPIRING, absolutely hilarious professor. Not to mention, we all felt as if we had gained an incredibly valuable friend. Mark let me know that if I ever wanted to talk over coffee, he would love to meet with me. Mark was there for me when so many others were not. I cannot possibly express what an enormous impact he has made in my life, even though I only knew this man for a few weeks. He truly lived a successful life, and I know for a fact that he touched so many students at the University of Oregon. I feel very honored to have known him. My condolences go out to his family and friends; I am so, so sorry for your loss.
