Angel in the audience

I always felt like a better human after I left Mark's presentation class. His kindness was always infectious and never did he ever compromise the spirit of a student who put there insecurities on the line when presenting. I remember him teaching us how to be an angel in the audience, make eye contact and smile. I didn't really get the power of this concept until I attended a conference where multiple groups of students presented. During one of the presentations everyone kept messing up and getting frustrated. Even though it was painful to watch I kept a smile on my face and never averted my gaze. After it was over the students found me and thanked me for smiling, saying that my smiling helped them get through their presentation. Mark was always my angel in the audience, one of the best lessons he taught me was how to be an angel in someone else's.
