Ode to a Storyteller
Created by easywind22 10 years ago
You crafted your jokes, sent up signals of smoke
Offered us Wisdom all wrapped up in riddles
The size of your girth reflected your mirth
Loads of laughs you held stored 'round your middle
With a tip 'o the top hat, bespectacled ol' cool cat
Bent listening ears to the Muses
Your departure so soon, Dear Sir Laughing Moon
You know Wizards leave just when they chooses
Still for us we're left gasping, gripping and grasping
The truth of your absence too heavy to bear
Some may call it tragic, but nay, you're pure Magic!
Just into, you've vanished, thin air!
Oh, the lives you have blessed,
Tender ears you've caressed
Planted seeds in so many young minds
With such care
Authentic and Genuine
Good Father and True Friend
Fine example to follow, so fair
With your trusty Green sidekick, a bag full of limerick
A smile that is huge as the Sun
Ceremonial Master, Poetic Pun Pastor
You made it your job to teach fun!
And what a career, Sir!
A lifetime of laughs, sure
A good rest, you truly deserve it
We bid you Good Night, go now into the Light
Front row seat at your next show, we'll reserve it
For Storytellers make no choice
In countless ways we hear your voice
From Stage Left you'll be there to greet us
Eternal Inspiration flows
You tell the One Tale that the Old Crow knows
By the firelights glow you will meet us...
